Jobs and Volunteer Opportunities

Smoothwater of Temagami is a great place to work and learn. We are passionate about the environment, and love to be close to the earth. We are a team of co-creators, each with a specialty, yet also part of the same weave. We share our strengths, weaknesses and successes.

Our clients come from all over the world, and are the most fascinating people….artists, scientists, historians, business people, professionals, farmers.

Interested in working here?  Tell us about yourself in a covering letter and resume.

Canoe Trip Outfitting & Chef Training
Our outfitting staff are chosen for their canoe outfitting skills, wilderness certifications, guiding experience and outgoing personalities. It’s hard work but gratifying to make people happy.

Our chefs-in-training are an artistic bunch in love with local and organic foods. If you know herbs and spices, classic techniques, and love a good food story, you’ll enjoy our creative kitchen environment. Guest chefs are also welcome to come create (and recreate) in Temagami.

Volunteers & Wwoofing
Volunteers and wwoofers visit us from all over the world.  Whether you are here to improve your English language skills, or just enjoy the Canadian wilderness, Smoothwater is a welcoming family. Your tasks may include garden weeding, harvesting vegetables, preserving fruit, helping canoe outfitting staff, and washing dishes.

Student Internships
Overseas students in recreation, leisure management, and hospitality may fulfill their school internship requirements at Smoothwater with specific long-term projects. Contact us for details.

Permanent Fixtures
Francis Boyes, Caryn Colman and their daughter Emily are permanent fixtures at Smoothwater. Dogs Sasha and Max, cats James and Sophie, and the occasional backyard moose, complete our Temagami wilderness utopia.

Amazing Mosquito Facts
It would take 1,200,000 mosquitoes, each sucking once, to completely drain the average human of blood. Lest we forget, only the females suck.
