Temagami Accommodations & Meals | Smoothwater Outfitters

We're a lodge as well as an outfitter. Stay before or after your canoe trip, eat hearty local food, & enjoy lively conversation. You never know who you'll meet!

Your Temagami Home

Smoothwater is about connecting – with nature, with friends new and old, and with yourself. On the edge of Temagami’s vast and rugged wilderness, you’ll relax and be re-energized by whimsical accommodations, superb meals, and great conversations. We've had clients say that Smoothwater combines the best aspects of a cottage and summer camp, and we love that description! It sums up our casual, comfortable and sociable vibe perfectly.

Whether you need a place to stay before a canoe trip, or are planning a lengthier lodge-based visit, choose from cozy private rooms, dorm-style bunk rooms, or tenting for your ideal Temagami stay. In addition to your room, you have the use of the Gathering Hall (a bright cabin space perfect for reading, playing games, or re-packing before your canoe trip), the lakeside sauna, the campfire circle, and our on-site canoes. Parking and Wifi (accessible from the Gathering Hall) are also included in your nightly rate.

When you stay at Smoothwater, you get to enjoy the wilderness in Canada with all the creature comforts, including amazing meals. Smoothwater is committed to authentic Canadian cuisine, sourcing as many ingredients as possible from the farms of nearby Temiskaming, our own garden, and the Temagami forest. Our food is unpretentious yet elegant and deeply satisfying – the perfect fuel for body and soul on your Temagami adventure. Equally nourishing is the communal atmosphere around the table at mealtime (meals are served family-style, with everyone sitting together, sharing the day’s events, their world views, their laughter). Menus change daily, designed to reflect the season and guest preferences. We happily accommodate vegetarians, vegans, and people with food allergies or other dietary restrictions. Smoothwater is not licensed to sell alcohol, but you’re welcome to bring your own drinks to the table.

Explore, learn, have fun, relax, rejuvenate, eat - on water or land. It’s that simple. You may not want to go home.

Please note: Prices are exclusive of HST (13%) and meal gratuities (15%).

We know that families come in all shapes and sizes, and we can accommodate pretty much any configuration as long as you're flexible! Families larger than four may need to book multiple rooms, or bunk together in the bunkhouse. Also, the size of your family and your childrens' ages will affect the price of your stay. Children under 12 eat for half price, while children under 5 eat for free. Please get in touch for a tailored quote to fit your family.

Already have dinner plans? Maybe you prefer to cook for yourself? Call or email for accommodation-only pricing.
