Complete Outfitting
What’s Included in the Package?
Almost everything you could possibly need for your canoe trip, including canoes, trip gear, and food. See a complete list of what’s provided here. A few items aren’t practical for us to include, but they can be acquired through us or before you arrive.
Not included in Complete Outfitting Package:
MAPS — Maps of your route are available for purchase in our store. You can annotate to your hearts delight and take it home for future trips or as a souvenir!
SLEEPING BAGS — We encourage you to bring your own sleeping bag. If necessary we can provide sleeping bags; a dry cleaning fee of $45 per bag will apply.
COMPREHENSIVE FIRST AID KIT — We provide an “ouch pouch”; a simple first aid kit whose contents you can see here. It does not include medications or specialized items. You are responsible for bringing additional items you may require.
How Does It Work?
Preliminary stages
ROUTE SUGGESTION — You’ll let us know your timeframe, abilities and preferences, and we’ll suggest suitable canoe routes for your trip. We can advise as to any park permits you may need. They are booked online through Ontario Parks, which you can do before arriving in Temagami. If you prefer, we can walk you through the booking process when you arrive.
MENU PLANNER — We’ll send a link to our online menu planner and you’ll select your preferred items.
PACKING LIST — Unsure of what personal items to pack? See our suggested packing list.
RESERVE LODGING — Not a requirement, but there’s nothing like a great meal and a sauna to bookend a canoe trip. Ask us about availability for rooms and meals for your dates.
Arrive in Temagami
ROUTE REVIEW/FINAL SELECTION — We gather at our giant wall map and discuss your route (including driving directions to your access point, if you’re self-shuttling).
GEAR & FOOD PACKING — We hand over the assembled gear and demonstrate certain gear items (stove, water filter, etc.). You’ll combine your personal belongings with our gear and pack according to your preference, using our dry bags and canoe packs (we’re available to consult!). We’ll review your food and provide and provide a barrel for you to pack it in; a paper copy of your menu planner will be included for reference.
CANOE TIE-DOWN/SHUTTLE — We tie the canoe(s) to your vehicle and go over the process until you feel comfortable doing it yourself on the return leg. If you’ve booked a shuttle, we’ll load your canoe(s) and gear onto our vehicle and set off! You’ll leave your vehicle and keys with us.
After Your Trip
SHORT DEBRIEF — We’ll be curious to hear how your trip went!
DROP OFF CANOES & GEAR — Separate your personal items from our gear and leave the gear on the outfitting deck.
HEAD HOME or CHILL AT THE LODGE — Leave the cleanup to us!
